1
Darth Vader
Coolest looking and most recognizable villain in cinema history. Directly purged the jedi including the women and the children. Killed lots and lots of people. Could only be turned by his son but that doesn’t stop the atrocities he committed and the screen presence he has.
2
Darth Sidious / Emperor Palpatine
Not much to say that isn’t already obvious. He is the most powerful sith lord of all time. He became leader of the republic, started the clone wars, gained emergency powers, purged the jedi with their own troops, led the empire to many massacres, blew up planets with the death star weapon, and seemingly cheated death. Quite the resume on him.
3
Darth Maul
Drippy looking alien. Coming back from the dead doesn’t make sense, but I’m glad it happened. He is interesting because he seems morally gray and he’s easy to root for, but he is not a good guy. Killed multiple jedi (including abandoning Daki against Vader) and has killed many civilians in cold blood in the Clone Wars. Led the shadow collective once and (maybe twice?) which makes him one of the most powerful people in the galaxy after being a sith lord. I can’t wait to see what he does with Devo
4
Count Dooku / Darth Tyranus
Leader of the entire separatist alliance which gutted many many worlds with the droids. Killed several jedi such as Yaddle :(. He claimed he was disillusioned with the Jedi corruption, but became distracted by power in the dark side. Went toe to toe with the best of em.
5
Kylo Ren
His very nature isn’t evil but he wants to be so bad which makes him a unique character in my opinion. He does do some bad things like massacring civilians, jedi, Snoke, and his father but he eventually turns very good (granted I’ve only seen rise of skywalker once hence why he’s still this high on my villain ranking). Drippy look and sick sick lightsaber. He was by far the best part of Force Awakens and Last Jedi and hopefully we get the hunt for Ben Solo show.
6
Director Orson Krennic
Can 100% credit Ben Mendelsohn for Krennic’s high ranking as his acting is incredible and makes Krennic stand out so much from the rest of the Empire. He’s more of a very interesting and unpredictable villain than a super powerful one. He was responsible for the death star project which blew up the city of Jeddah. Drippy ass white cape too.
7
General Grievous
Could be S if the clone wars show did him better. He was portrayed as more of a coward in the show, but he is potentially second coolest looking villain behind vader? He killed many jedi and kept trophies of them. Supa dupa high kill count while leading the entire droid army massacring people on many planets. I hope they get into his backstory in canon media more as that could also boost him up potentially.
8
Grand Admiral Thrawn
Potential for S based on Ahsoka season 2. He is a unique Empire villain who studies his enemies culture to understand them. He does continually get bested by the rebels in the show Rebels which is why he’s only in A, and I haven’t finished the Thrawn trilogy to bias my ranking. Hopefully he ties into the first order or the larger Star Wars wars eventually. He is a great alien design.
9
Baylan Skoll
The only reason he’s not higher is because his story isn’t finished yet. He has potential to be S based on how Ahsoka season 2 goes which may be bold. He was the best part of season 1 by far. He is like a Thanos figure with an evil ‘greater good’ vision in mind for the galaxy. Drippy as hell and fights like an absolute tank.
10
Grand Moff Tarkin
The epitome of not a very good guy. He personally gives the order to blow up Alderaan (a peaceful planet) because Leia was from there. He also committed a genocide on Ghorman among many other evil deeds. He was giving orders to Vader and only reported to Palps. Peak empire power but not thatttt interesting of a character to me to rank him any higher.
11
Dedra Meero
This ranking is a massive compliment to Andor as a show. Scope and influence she probably shouldn’t be this high but man that show was great. She was intelligent, posed a threat to to our heros, and had a catastrophic ending. She gave the order to massacre the civilians at Ghorman, and her scene with Luthen was incredibly intense.
12
Supreme Leader Snoke
He would be higher on my list if he wasn’t just a clone of palpatine. He is very menacing, scary, evil sounding, and seemingly powerful in the force. We don’t know all of the bad deeds he did but he ran the entire first order. He was extremely interesting as the new sith lord in the sequels but unfortunately he was just a palpatine clone. Very cool looking.
13
Moff Gideon
He would be in A if it was just season 1 and 2 of Mando. He has drip, is brilliantly acted, wins many times, and does evil things such as kidnapping Grogu and killing his own men. I’ve only seen season 3 once but his momentum slows down a little bit and he just starts fighting the mandos. Owning the dark saber gives him sick points.
14
Jabba the Hutt
The gangster villain of the OT. He led the most powerful criminal syndicate in the galaxy. Many of his crimes were not showed on screen but they had to be plentiful. Straight up made leia a slave and dumped Luke, a very powerful Jedi Knight, into his Rancor pit without a second thought. Not the best death in the world and his grand schemes limit him to this tier.
15
Qimir / The Stranger
He would be higher if it wasn’t quite obvious that in the mystery of “who is the evil jedi?” in the show was clearly him. However, he kills several jedi on screen in ruthless ways, has a helmet that temporarily breaks lightsabers, and trains under Plagueis (I think). Too bad he wasn’t part of a good story or else he could’ve ranked much higher. I would be interesting in a good season 2 of Acolyte to see where this character goes. He gets bonus points for aura farming his entrance in the battle w
16
Doctor Royce Hemlock
Very very evil man. He ran the entire necromancer program for palps and kidnapped child force sensitives and tested them. He was brilliantly voice acted and was always very ominous. His overall dialogue and lines could’ve been a little better to bump him up to A, but he was a great villain for the bad batch and in Star Wars canon.
17
Cad Bane
Kidnapped force sensitive children in the clone wars, fought jedi many times, and was best bounty hunter in the entire clone wars. Drippy af. He doesn’t have very villainous grand plans though his main motive is just make money by any means necessary. He would be higher if he wasn’t just a badass bounty hunter. He also loses some drip points trying to steal his uncle’s (or whoever that was) flow from the tales of the underworld.
18
Dryden Vos
Dryden isn’t the most complicated villain ever, but his look and weapons are very menacing and cool. I’m excited to hopefully see more of him in season 2 of Maul. We’ll see if he’s more of a pawn for Maul or if he helps Maul run shi.
19
Pong Krell
His arc in Umbara is one of the best and most popular for a reason, and he would be potentially in A if it wasn’t for him only being a pawn for Dooku in the end. I wish he was just a bad valued Jedi who was slowly gaining dark side lust from the war but alas. His turn of his men on each other is brutal and is a unique one in star wars. He was very powerful and cool looking wielding 2 double bladed lightsabers too.
20
The Grand Inquisitor
The grand inquisitor was the only inquisitor in Rebels that seemed scary. It was probably because he didn’t fly with his lightsaber. He has a great story being a former temple guard turned leader of the inquisitors. His appearance in Kenobi brought him down as he didn’t look good at all and got stabbed by Reva. He did supply one of the coldest lines in star wars: “There are things scarier than death” as he dies (likely referencing Vader). He also loses points for losing in a duel to a not as str
21
Asajj Ventress
She was very powerful and held her ground vs obiwan and anikan many times and killed many many people (unsure about the power scaling consistency but I’ll let it slide). She ended up getting booted by dooku and slowly became a “good guy” so that brings her down the villain ranking. She does have a long list of war crimes to her name.
22
Barriss Offee
Another one who could’ve had a higher ranking on my list if only she had a different ending to her story. Her framing of Ahsoka and fighting Anakin is one of my favorite moments in the clone wars and heartbreaking for Ahsoka. Especially after seeing her be so good and gentle earlier in the show. She eventually realizes the empire is bad and becomes a good force healer in some remote region in the galaxy which brings her down the villain list significantly.
23
Pre Vizsla
He led the death watch which committed terrorist attacks against peaceful civilians, had the dark saber, went toe to toe with both Maul and Kenobi, and died honorably for a villain. His scope wasn’t big enough to get him higher but his drip, skill, and do whatever it takes to get power gives him lots of points.
24
Morgan Elsbeth
She is somewhat boring but her story is good because she leads us to Thrawn. She has cool magik as a nightsister and is quite evil in Mando season 2 in that town, but ends up not doing much in the grand schemes of things. She gets some points for ordering Baylan Skoll around.
25
Admiral Rampart
He was never the most powerful or had the most influence but he devastatingly destroyed the city of kamino and hunted the bad batch for a while. He eventually overstepped and palps showed him there are levels to this shit. He never turned good and in the end he tried to gain power again by saving the data in the cloning facility, but Nala Se had something to say about that. He was a dickhead in the show without being too comedic (like Hux) which I liked.
26
Captain Enoch
He looks so cool and doesn’t do that much in season 1 of Ahsoka which was a little disappointing. I am excited to see him in season 2 wield the magik sword from the clone wars (spoiler warning from the trailer).
27
Captain Phasma
Super drippy, lots of potential in the force awakens, commands with strength, but eventually just loses screen time and helps the resistance when threatened. Her extreme loss of potential hurts and biases me to put her in D.
28
The Twins
Even with that much power, the twins were a lame villain that didn’t mean much in the grand schemes of star wars in a mid ah movie. Not much else to say about them.
29
General Hux
One of the lamest, goofiest, dumbest spy turncoats in history. He was cool af in the force awakens and gave an order to destroy several planets at once (even though blowing up that many planets at once casually is a bit lazy), and him trying to undermine Kylo gives him points too. The way he turns to the good side almost puts him in F.
30
Boba Fett
All thanks to Book of Boba Fett. He also has a comical death in episode 6, but he still could’ve been a gangster in his show, instead he was a spineless good guy in a comedy show. I added him His actions in the show speak for themselves here.
31
Third Sister / Reva
I might’ve lied when I said I wouldn’t bias rankings based off how I personally feel about the character. Her evil intentions are not that evil and ends up kinda teaming up with Obiwan? She eventually turns good and knows Luke’s location and goes off scott free which makes 0 sense and is the opposite of villainous. She gets bested by Vader with ease (makes sense), tricked by Leia (which I don’t hate that win for Leia) and gets faked by the grand inquisitor and Vader. She also shouldn’t be alive
32
Mae Aniseya
To be honest I didn’t even know her last name was Aniseya until I made this list. She was one of the worst parts of the Acolyte. Her backstory was not interesting at all and she is mostly a pawn of The Stranger.
